Dr.
Donald J. Krogstad is the Director of the Center for Infectious
Diseases at Tulane University. His research interests include the
molecular and genetic basis of resistance to chloroquine and quinine,
techniques for the characterization of individual clones of malaria
parasites, and the development of methods to study pathogenicity. He
has participated in numerous government advisory committees including
the Global Expertise Reserve for the National Intelligence Council for
the Department of State, the Tropical Medicine and Parasitology Study
Section at the National Institutes of Health, and the Drug Development
and Antimicrobial Resistance Study Section at the National Institutes
of Health. In addition to these responsibilities he participated as
Secretary for the Medical Sciences, American Association for the
Advancement of Science.
